From MPD around 5pm Sunday:

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 1600 block of Oak Street NW. And adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a non life threatening injury to the foot.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

“On 7/14/2019, officers from the First District responded to the 1100 block of K St SE (inside of a location) for the sounds of gunshots. (more…)

“With regret, this evening at 1610 hours a call for a man down was reported. A male subject was located in the 1100 Block of North Capitol Street NW suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. “Scariest driving experience of my life”

“Dear PoPville,

Yesterday while driving to work on the BW Parkway, I had the absolute scariest experience of my life. Without reliving it, I will just say that this fellow driver should not be allowed to drive– this was not your standard speeding, or tailgating, or merging when you shouldn’t, or just being a “Maryland driver” that we all love to hate. This was intentional insanity with no regards to my safety, any other driver’s safety, or quite frankly, his own. I was very lucky that I emerged unscathed from his two attempts to cause an accident with my car, but I am incredibly concerned that he is still on the road.

My question is this: is there a way to report drivers like this? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I know some police departments massage their data to keep crime stats low, but I cannot believe that my assault/robbery incident was downgraded to a “lost items” and “misplaced items” incident. Worse, I downloaded the “Crime Incidents in 2019” and saw that my attack was not listed in the data set.

I was attacked and robbed by two men while walking down 7th and N Streets NW in Shaw a few weeks ago. There was a passerby that kindly called 911 and two police officers showed up within a minute. (more…)

“Metro now says that it is losing $26 million to fare evasion on Metrobus and an additional $10 million on Metrorail. But a transit agency spokesman underscored that it’s much harder to count losses on Metrorail–and these latest estimates could be smaller than reality.”

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

Thanks to all who’ve shared this awfulness. The video above shows a taxi on 14th Street in front of DCUSA (props to the women behind the taxi for saying something) and Wonderland at 11th and Kenyon Street, NW.

Then Deputy Mayor Donahue tweeted on Sunday around 5pm:

“A short while ago, people heard loud bangs inside Union Station & fled the building. ⁦‪@DCPoliceDept‬⁩ & ⁦‪@dcfireems‬⁩ immediately responded.

• There is no active shooter
• There are no gunshot wound victims
• Appears that the loud bangs were fireworks being set off”

THERE IS NO EXCUSE. NONE.
