11 year old shot and killed 7pm Last Night

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection to a homicide that occurred on Thursday, July 18, 2019, in the 2700 block of Naylor Road, Southeast.

At approximately 6:57 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. While investigating, MPD was notified that a juvenile male, suffering from a gunshot wound, was taken to a Prince George’s County Fire Department Fire Station. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 11 year-old Karon Brown, of Southeast, DC.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 20 to 30 years of age, with a medium complexion, a medium build, wearing black pants, and no shirt. The suspect was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and can be seen in the photos above.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”
