Shooting in Shaw around 12:30pm

One reader reports: “Two shots fired, according to police victim was shot in the leg. Area roped off for now, lots of officers on scene. Shooting happened 12:38 pm.”

From MPD:

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 700 block of N Street NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a non life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

“DC Water Warns Customers About Scammers Impersonating Utility Workers”

“DC Water is warning customers to beware of people claiming to represent the utility to gain access to their homes.

DC Water was made aware of a police report that says two suspects dressed as construction workers approached a home in the 3000 block of M Street, SE. Police say the men claimed to be from DC Water and said they “needed to check pipes inside the home. The homeowner refused to let them in, at which point the suspects produced a handgun and tried to force their way into the home. The homeowner was able to get the door shut and the suspects fled the location.”

The suspects do not work for DC Water and our crews will not try to gain access to a property without prior authorization. If someone claiming to be from DC Water shows up at your door asking for access, please do not allow them in. If you fear for your safety, call 911 immediately to report the suspicious behavior. “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, in the 600 block of I Street, Northwest.

“Dear PoPville,

Warning to women: I was broken into twice over the past 1.5 months. The first time they stole cash, the second time nothing was stolen, however my bolt lock was left unlocked. After the second robbery, I realized my bars in my bedroom window were not secured, so a heavy duty Locke was placed on the bars and I installed security cameras. The cops were called both times. MPD reported at 3:21am: “MPD is on the scene of a confirmed shooting at 5th and K ST NE. Lookout for a person of unknown sex and race, 5’3″ to 5’7″, wearing jeans jacket with orange hoodie, last seen at 5th and K ST NE.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District seek the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in reference to a Leaving After Colliding and Theft One (Stolen Auto) Offense that occurred on Tuesday, September 16, 2020, in the 3300 Block of 18th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 4:55 pm, a delivery driver left his vehicle running unattended at the listed location. The suspect entered the vehicle and began to flee. As the suspect fled the scene, he lost control of the vehicle and struck the delivery driver, an adult female and two juveniles. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. “Shooting at 5th and Kennedy. Sounded like at least 7 shots.”

and in Bloomingdale around 11:15pm:

“multiple large caliber gunshots (6+) heard in #BloomingdaleDC south of Adams, west of Flagler”

“A dozen bangs then pause and 10 more? Hopefully not more gunshots in the Channing/1st area?”

“Just heard what sounded like gunshots by 2nd and W NW.”
