“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Attempted Kidnapping offense that occurred on Friday, October 22, 2021, in the 1800 block of Columbia Road, Northwest.

At approximately 8:20 am the suspect approached the juvenile and adult victim at the listed location. The suspect began yelling at the victims, claiming the juvenile was his daughter. (more…)

“Agents from the Force Investigation Team of the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating an MPD officer involved shooting that occurred on Friday, October 22, 2021, in the 500 block of Kennedy Street, Northwest.

At approximately 4:45 pm, uniformed members of the Fourth District were flagged down in reference to a male suspect with a handgun chasing another male at the listed location. Responding officers located the suspect and as the officers engaged the suspect, one of the officers felt a handgun that was concealed in the suspect’s waistband. A struggle ensued and the suspect was able to flee from the officers. The suspect entered a vehicle and as officers attempted to remove the suspect from the vehicle, the suspect started driving the vehicle with one of the officers still inside of the vehicle. As the vehicle started driving away, two officers outside of the vehicle were thrown to the ground.

The suspect then drove approximately two city blocks with the third officer inside of the vehicle. The officer voiced numerous commands for the suspect to stop the vehicle and the suspect did not comply. The officer discharged his service weapon, striking the suspect. The officer exited the moving vehicle and fell into the roadway. The suspect then fled the scene in the vehicle. (more…)

“Executive Assistant Chief Ashan Benedict provides an update to an off-duty MPD officer involved shooting that occurred 10/20/21 in the 1200 block of 28th St NW.”

From MPD:

“Agents from the Force Investigation Team of the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating an MPD officer involved shooting that occurred on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, in the 1200 block of 28th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 12:17 am, an off-duty MPD officer observed two suspects, both brandishing firearms, while they were conducting an armed robbery at the listed location. The officer engaged the suspects and discharged his weapon, striking one of the suspects. The other suspect then discharged his weapon in the direction of the officer and both suspects then fled the scene. One suspect was later apprehended by responding officers with assistance from the United States Secret Service, Uniformed Division. Officers rendered first aid to the suspect until he was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The other suspect made good his escape.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying suspects in reference to an Armed Robbery (Gun) offense that occurred on Saturday, October 16, 2021, in the 2300 block of Washington Place, Northeast.

At approximately 3:38 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s dog. The victim complied and the suspects then fled the scene.
