7th and P Street, NW

From MPD: “Shooting Investigation in the 1400 block of 7th St, NW. Lookout for a grayish/blue Merz dark tinted window with sunroof and unknown paper tags. L/S going westbound on P St, NW.”

Readers report around 1:30pm: “there was just a shooting in Shaw on 7th between P and O NW. heard at least five shots, and my friend saw someone hopping in a car immediately after the shots went off.

We went over to give a description to police and they had 7th completely blocked off and a helicopter circling the area. Not sure what else has happened, they still have the roads blocked off!”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a vehicle in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, December 6, 2021, at 7th Street and P Street, Northwest.

At approximately 12:33 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect’s vehicle was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and can be seen in the photos below.

Anyone who can identify this vehicle or who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.”
