A reader reported around 1:30am: “loudest gunshots I’ve ever heard in 14 years living in Shaw. Any idea what’s up?”

Alan Henney reported:

“SHOOTOUT, MULTIPLE SHOTS FIRED INCLUDING HI-POWER GUNS— 7th St and S St NW DC. Numerous reports received of ~25-40 shots fired from multiple guns including rifles. So far nobody found shot; police are checking.”

In reference to an arrest report a resident asked MPD for “more information regarding Arrest #022203260 – “Dogs – Maintain Collar.”

MPD replied: “A subject was previously issued a 61D citation for a non-custodial arrest for not leashing their dog. The subject responded to the Second District and paid the citation.”



7am Tuesday “13th St at Lamont / Kenyon ST NW blocked by Police.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, February 21, 2022, in the 3200 block of 13th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 8:33 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the sound of a gunshot. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. (more…)

Alan Henney reported: “About 30 shots exchanged. So far nobody reported struck… But there is property damage.”

Update from Metro Transit Police: “ARRESTED: 15-year old male, of Bladensburg, MD, on charge of assault w/a deadly weapon in shooting at Georgia Ave-Petworth Stn last night. MTPD quickly ID’d suspect, who turned himself into police overnight w/o incident. Victim is in stable condition, expected to recover.”

Dave Statter reports: “Reported shooting victim on the platform at the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro Station.”

From WMATA: “UPDATED: Yellow/Green Line Delay: Trains bypassing Georgia Ave w/ single tracking btwn Georgia Ave & Fort Totten due to a police investigation at Georgia Ave. Expect delays.”
