I can’t believe it’s already been two years. To celebrate they are “offering happy hour all night and 50% off all signature cocktails” tonight. Dickson is located at 903 U St, NW.

I love that an Ethiopian restaurant is also celebrating St. Pat’s.

In April 2011 we first learned of Bistro Bohem coming to 1840 6th St, NW (the corner of 6th and Florida Ave, NW.) Well, add this to the pile of amazing transformations hitting DC. I was lucky enough to get an early preview last night and I still haven’t stopped smiling. Not only were the food and drinks amazing but the space itself is super chill. I can see this being a great date spot too. And they had schnitzel – I love schnitzel!

You can see their drink and food menu in pdf below:

You’ll soon see an announcement on their Facebook page announcing a preview for the neighborhood tonight from 7-10pm and a grand opening next week.
Oh yeah – this also only part one! They also will be expanding into the former Zee’s restaurant next door at 600 Florida Ave, NW. That expansion which should take place over the next month will feature a coffee cafe featuring Julius Meinl coffee and fresh pastries which, will be open during the day.
It’s just amazing to watch this section of Florida Ave blossom before my eyes. Remember this is what it used to look like not too long ago.

I’ll be guest bartending tonight at Boundary Stone, 116 Rhode Island Avenue, NW, to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. I’ll be bartending from 7-8pm and all tips will go to St. Baldrick’s. Also:
A $25 donation gets you an awesome DC Brau glass to keep and unlimited DC Brau Corruption Ale till 9pm. 100% of the proceeds will go to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Guest bar tending for the event will be the Prince of Petworth and Brandon from DC Brau! All tips from the bar during the event will also be donated! Come on out and have some FUN! We really DO know how to put the FUN in FUNdraiser!
SnitchEye is the wine bar that was hoping to come to 3rd and Florida Ave, NW. That location fell through but they have narrowed down their location to two finalists and are currently negotiating lease terms (they wouldn’t tell me where – but hopefully they’ll sign the lease soon!)
In the meantime they are finalizing their logo and I offered to host a poll for PoPville – so which do you like better?
I promise to update with more info as soon as the lease is signed.

From a press release:
The race to the White House is on, and with no definite front-runner for the Republican Party, it’s still anybody’s game. Topaz Bar invites Washingtonians to stop by and catch the excitement on March 6, 2012 at its Super Tuesday Viewing Party. From 5 p.m. until close, Kimpton Mixologist Rico Wisner will stir up politically-charged campaign cocktails, including drinks inspired by the four GOP candidates and President Barack Obama. Patrons can throw their support towards their favorite presidential hopeful by ordering one of the following drinks from the official 2012 Topaz Bar Campaign Cocktail Menu:
· Romney Float – This rich, non-alcoholic treat features Old Dominion Root Beer finished with whipped heavy cream and a house-made “Salted Lake” caramel drizzle ($5). For those who can’t resist the hard stuff, a shot of Root Organic Liqueur ($6) can be added.
· Rick’s Tea Party – Throw your support towards Santorum. Tea is a large part of the mix in this cocktail featuring Green Tea Infused Absolut Vodka, Benedictine Liqueur, lemon juice and simple syrup. ($9)
· Ron’s PBR – Swig down an old-school beer that appeals to the younger generations too, and show support for Ron Paul with a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon. ($5)
· Gin-grich and Tonic – Choose an old classic with a hint of the South in honor of Newt with this twist on a traditional gin and tonic. Enjoy Bluecoat American Dry Gin and Fentimans Tonic Water topped off with a Leopold Bros. Peach Liqueur float. ($9)
· Home Sweet Home – Obama’s looking to keep his cushy digs at the White House for the next four years. Vote for the incumbent with this homage to District’s official cocktail – The Rickey. This sweet twist on the classic includes Bulleit Bourbon, lime juice, club soda and a hint of pineapple juice. ($9)
Following Super Tuesday, the Campaign Cocktail Menu will be offered until the official GOP nominee is selected. At that time, Topaz Bar will invite patrons to cast their “vote” for the presidency by sipping on their favorite candidate’s cocktail. The bar will keep a running tally of who’s in the lead until the general election in November 2012.
Topaz Bar’s presidential past dates back to the early 1900s when Theodore Roosevelt lived where the hotel now stands, during his tenure as McKinley’s Vice President and for a short time when president, before officially moving into the White House. For this reason, the 1733 N Street itself was sometimes referred to as the “Little White House.”
Kimpton’s Topaz Bar features creative, hand-crafted cocktails fashioned by Rico Wisner and contemporary small plates with a Moroccan twist created by Executive Chef Thomas Dunklin. Topaz Bar is open from 5 p.m. to close seven days a week. Happy Hour Liquid Therapy runs every Monday through Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. with special prices on drinks and food, and the bar’s weekly stand-up comedy night is held on Thursdays from 8-10 p.m. Topaz Bar is located at Topaz, a Kimpton Hotel, 1733 N Street, NW.
Anyone else hear of good Super Tuesday viewing parties/specials?

Back in June 2011 we learned that a new cafe and wine bar called TEL’VEH was coming to 401 Massachusetts Ave NW:
“New Tavern. European Café with wine bar. Breakfast and lunch with bakery. Small plates during dinner and wine bar, no dancing. Seating capacity is 75. Summer Garden capacity is 40. Total Occupancy Load is 115.”
I was starting to get nervous but I recently spotted some good news – looks like they’re starting to get some bones:

The Beautiful Life Tree in Grant Circle
