It’s official. The lease has been signed for Dominion Pint and it’s coming to Wilson Blvd in Ballston Dominion Hills. For those not familiar you can get an idea of what’s coming from Meridian Pint’s menus here. I’m told if all goes well they should be open this coming December!

From a press release:
“Drink Company is going romantic and regal for its next PUB (pop-up bar) experience, transforming one of its trifecta of bars into a throne room fit for a queen — or an American princess.
The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle will serve as the backdrop for the new limited-run Royal Wedding PUB (1839 7th Street NW), launching Friday, May 4 and ending Sunday, May 20 — one day after the nuptials of Britain’s most eligible bachelor and America’s newest sweetheart.

“It’s hard not to get swept up in the romance of a royal wedding, especially when it involves a modern, real-life fairytale,” says Drink Company CEO Angie Fetherston. “I’ve been a superfan of the royals since I was a kid and knew as soon as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were engaged that we had to bring a slice of their day to all of the fans who want to experience a little bit of the fantasy — fascinators and all.”
The Royal Wedding PUB will be decked out in all things royal, from family crests to a throne room inspired by the real thing in Buckingham Palace. And, the bar will open early on Saturday, May 19 for wedding watchers to celebrate the ceremony, which begins at 7am ET that day, with 100% of proceeds from ticket sales benefiting The Invictus Games Foundation, for which Prince Harry is a patron. The Invictus Games is an international sporting event for the wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women, both serving and veterans.
Throughout the run of the PUB, fans will get a chance to win a replica of the happy couple’s lemon elderflower wedding cake, baked by the official chef of The British Embassy here in Washington, D.C. Each Royal Wedding PUB guest will have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets benefitting The Invictus Games Foundation, with the winner of the cake being revealed at the conclusion of the PUB. “Dear PoPville,
I’m planning a happy hour in DC for a group of 15 – 20 on a Thursday evening in May (thinking 5:30 – 7:30 PM). I’m trying to find a fun restaurant/bar that will allow me to reserve a bar area for my group without committing to a high minimum. Ideally a few tall cocktail tables or a lounge space. Ideally, I’d like to find a place near U Street/14th Street/Adam’s Morgan/Dupont.
Any suggestions?”

So celebrate tonight at Nanny’s with a DC Brau Tap Takeover!!
“In honor of our 25th anniversary on Sunday we will be kicking off the weekend with an awesome tap takeover from DC Brau on Friday the 13th. Starting at 6pm we will be tapping the DC Brau Pills, El Hefe Speaks, Penn Quarter Porter, And the Corruption.”
I’ve spent many an hour drinking the one whilst in the other. Congrats to both of these institutions!

Ed. Note: DC Brau will have a proper celebration of their own at Rock and Roll Hotel on April 21st. Details on that one here.

Thanks to Evan for the heads up. The owner of Parlay Sports Bar & Lounge confirms to me via email:
“The 1827 M street location is closed .. we will be relocating to NE and hopefully open by World Cup this summer.”
Parlay opened up in September 2014 in the former Malaysia Kopitiam space. Updates when we learn what becomes of this space and when we learn more details on Parlay’s new NE location.

“Dear PoPville,
I’d love to hear how neighbors feel about this. While I support live music and I welcome KrakenAxes’ presence and expansion as beer garden, the hours for Live Entertainment they are proposing seem excessive.”
Ed. Note: On April 3rd we posted Kraken’s new liquor license placard.
Meeting to discuss tomorrow night:
