The guys from The Daily Rider on H Street (600 H St, NE) recognized my bike from the footage and photos I’d posted when someone brought it in to be fixed (it was either broken by the person/people who stole it, or by the person who bought my stolen bike), checked the serial number on Bike Index where I’d registered it as stolen, and called the police. I’ve been wondering what is going on with the DC E-Bike program that was passed last year. There was a lot of fanfare and then crickets. I signed-up for updates and have heard nothing at all.”

I think I heard it was supposed to launch in March or April. When it does will that push anyone towards purchasing an ebike? For those who have one already, do you recommend them?

My blue 2022 Gazelle Ultimate C380 Low 46cm Mallard e-bike was stolen from the corner of 7th & Q NW yesterday afternoon while I was having brunch at Ambar Shaw. The thieves used a portable grinder to cut through the lock. I have security camera video of the thief cutting through the lock and a lovely picture of him riding away on it! (more…)

Yesterday afternoon I was driving through an alley on the regular school-designated route (in blue) to pick my kid up from school. I was driving about 10 mph. As I was driving, a bike (in purple) turned the corner and very nearly hit the side of my car. Thankfully, the biker wasn’t hurt at all and didn’t fall of his bike.
