Friends of the National Arboretum (FONA) presents a Music in the Meadow concert on Friday, September 4th at 7 PM at the National Arboretum. FONA is excited to celebrate the National Herb Garden’s Rock (‘N Roll) Garden exhibit with an exhilarating live performance by Daisy Road. Audiences can expect an eclectic mix of rock, soul, and funk music with tunes the whole family can sing along to. FONA’s Music in the Meadow concerts bring together neighbors, friends, and families to enjoy live music outdoors with a sunset view of the iconic National Capitol Columns. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I learned a lot about Guerro (Acapulco area), Oaxaca and Sinaloa states and their food yesterday when we dined at El District 24. This is not a mainstream Mexican restaurant but prices are reasonable. We had a chat with the chef, Luis, and an informative waiter. Attached is a photo of the shrine in the former fireplace inside the dining room not far from the bar. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Following the devastating flooding in Nepal this week, Kathmandu – Tapas & Cocktails on U Street is launching a month-long effort to raise funds for those affected.

Beginning today through the end of September, owner Dipesh Acharya, who was born in Kathmandu, will donate a portion of the restaurant’s sales directly to Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
