From the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum:
“The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum is welcoming a Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter, the world’s first true operational stealth combat aircraft, into the national collection. This remarkable aircraft will be transferred to the museum by the U.S. Air Force. It was prepared for its public display by the team at Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works, and the U.S. Air Force Reserve’s 512th Airlift Wing will transport the F-117 from the Skunk Works’ facility to Dulles International Airport in Virginia aboard a C-5 Galaxy cargo plane. The Nighthawk will be displayed at the museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, in late October. (more…)

“The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the DC Department of General Services (DGS) are excited to inform the community that the project to deliver a new Dr. William H. Rumsey Aquatic Center (635 North Carolina Avenue SE) is moving forward. To allow demolition of the existing building and construction of a new aquatic center, the Rumsey Aquatic Center will be closed to the public starting Thursday, October 1, 2026.
