Speaking of the economy a friend of mine sent me this photo from the EYAUrban Web site. Details below. 4212 3rd St NW ($425,000) So a good price?

“Located in NW DC, blocks to the new development at Petworth Metro, and hip Domku, this renovated home provides ample space at a condo price. Features include an open chefs kitchen with granite counters and stainless steel appliances, a separate dining room, breakfast room, finished basement entertainment area, both front and back yards, and a garage. Electrical and plumbing systems have been updated. The windows and the furnace were recently installed.

Apparently the economy is not doing so well. I think I read something about it a few weeks ago. Or maybe it has been everyday for months. I know it has had a terribly effect on folks around the country. It is actually quite terrifying. But what I’d like to know is if it is affecting folks here in DC. Are you changing your habits because of the grim outlook of the economy? Are you putting off home projects, moving, repairs, driving, buying a home, etc.? Personally, I’ve been hesitating buying a new washer/dryer since November. But otherwise I’m pretty much rolling like I always have. Is DC more immune than the rest of the country? Have you guys made any changes?

Thanks to a reader and new Petworth resident for sending me this photo.

She writes: “I just moved to Petworth about 10 days ago, and yesterday I passed the new location for Taqueria Distrito Federal – 805 Kennedy, so a block or so off Georgia. Here’s a picture. I’m excited! Never eaten there before, but it’s just a couple blocks from where I live and on my walk home, so… won’t be long!”

This is actually a pretty amazing brochure. It is thick stock, nice glossy photos, and four full pages. This particular brochure is for a home on the 1300 block of Monroe right behind the Giant. But what I really love about the brochure is the photo of the agents on the lower right hand corner. It is awesome. Check out the shading. It looks like a family portrait from Sears. Like I said, awesome.

A hold out from back in the day? It looks like a nice house but it must be sad living between two gigantic apartment complexes. Kind of a different porch experience. If memory serves I think this is on 11th or 12th St. in Shaw. I can imagine the whole block filled with houses like this one back in the day.

If I were an evil spirit I certainly wouldn’t mess with this house.
