Thanks to Marcus for sending this crispy specimen on Sunday from Logan Circle.

“After February 28, 2026, holiday trees and greenery should be placed at the normal point of collection for trash and recycling. Holiday trees and greenery will be collected as space permits in the truck.”

*Last Christmas Tree in Town (definitely not the last) is brought to you by the Friends of Mizuta Masahide Society. Should we be blessed with any, please send your JULY tree sightings to [email protected] and let me know where you saw it. Thanks!

“Dear PoPville,

I am a parent of a DC Wave swimmer and a member of the team’s Booster Club. I want to raise awareness of an issue facing the District’s long-standing swim club, DC Wave, that has provided a competitive opportunity for a diverse group of young athletes across the city since 1983. After 2 coaches left the program in 2024, DPR Aquatics took away those FTEs from the program with no explanation and no plan for how the team was meant to maintain its USA Swimming-required coach-to-swimmer ratio. We were just informed that the head of Aquatics decided to turn those FTEs into administrative staff at other pools. Our team of over 330 swimmers has limped along for the last 2 years, and we are at a point where the current coaching staff is facing burnout.

We want DPR Aquatics to reinstate the 2 FTEs that were taken away from the club. (more…)

From Alert DC:

“The US Military has notified the District of Columbia that it will conduct aircraft flyovers near the National Mall from June 24 to July 10 as a part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. While there may be an increase in air traffic noise, there is no cause for alarm.”

As always, PLEASE: Tell your friends, tell your neighbors. Tell ’em PoPville told you. They’re going to ask…
