Thanks to Lauren for passing on from Wangari Gardens (Kenyon and Park Place, NW):

“Have a song in your heart? Come to the garden Friday, September 1 from 7-9pm for an OPEN MIC NIGHT. Friend of the garden Veronica Faison will kick us off with some music, followed by the talents of our community of gardeners.

We recommend you bring a picnic blanket or lawn chair, and refreshments to share.”

“Dear PoPville,

I am trying to find someone and I am hoping you can help. Two years ago I broke my ankle stepping in a hole in Lincoln Park. A very nice Australian man named Larry helped hold my dog, hand me my phone and stayed with me while I was picked up to go to the ER.

Apparently in May my dad who was visiting from out of town ran into this same man in Lovejoy Park. Knowing he is still in the area inspired me to reach out to you to see if I can find him. I have always wanted to thank him and would like the opportunity to talk to him. I appreciate any help I can get!”

“This is Caccia (short for hunter in Italian) sleeping while I work!”

As we approach September 1st thanks to Danielle for kicking off this new series with “a lonely Christmas Cat (2021 vintage) in the Little Free Library in front of the Salvation Army, corner of Sherman Ave. and Morton St. NW.”

If you should find something of note/unusual in a little free library, please snap a photo and send it to my email at [email protected] and please let me know what neighborhood it’s from. Thanks! Look what I found in a Little Free Library is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.
