You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks and no need to correct people’s grammar. This is a place to vent and/or celebrate things about daily life in D.C.

Looking for your ride-or-die pup? Meet Mikey!

With his floppy ears, soulful eyes, and heart full of love, 8-month-old Mikey is the total package. This 49-lb hound mix is part old soul, part goofball—and 100% best friend material.

Mikey is the kind of pup who’ll match your vibe: ready to romp around with his toys or chase a ball, but just as happy to chill by your side. He’s curious, gentle, and loves meeting new dog friends on walks (he insists on saying hi to everyone).

Smart and eager to please, Mikey is picking up house and crate training like a pro. He’s got a great nose for adventure and a heart full of loyalty—what more could you ask for?

Ready to fall in love? Mikey’s waiting!

Sweet, sassy, and always ready to chat – meet Cookie! 🍪💬

At just a year old, this gorgeous tortie is bursting with personality. Cookie is friendly, outgoing, and endlessly curious—she loves exploring every nook and cranny, following her little nose wherever it leads. When she’s not on an adventure or playing with her favorite string toys, she’s probably chirping, meowing, or squeaking to tell you all about her day. She’s a total chatterbox in the most adorable way!

Cookie has great litter box manners, uses her scratching post like a pro, and is always up for making new human friends. She’s a social butterfly and wants to be wherever the action is—especially if that includes snuggles.

Cookie is FeLV+ (Feline Leukemia Virus), which means her immune system needs a little extra care. But don’t let that stop you—FeLV+ cats can live happy, playful lives and bring so much joy and love into a home. She just needs to be your one-and-only feline, or live with fellow FeLV+ cats.

If you’re looking for a confident, cuddly, and talkative companion, Cookie is the one! 🐾
Apply today—and don’t forget to check out her adventures on Instagram: @mich.elletu7

“Dear PoPville,

Reaching out to clarify the questions/comments that you get every year during National Police Week (this week, and ends today 5/16). The motorcades carry the families of police officers who have died in the line of duty. Part of police week includes visiting the National Law Enforcement Officer’s memorial, where family members go to see their officer’s names newly engraved.

In addition, please note that an extremely large percentage of the folks on those buses are families of NYPD officers whose line of duty death was cancer (receiving the diagnosis as a result of working in lower manhattan during the clean up from the mass terror attack on September 11th, 2001).

I was on one of those buses last year.”

“Tucked within 3 iconic DC streets, Bonne Vie Cafe & Bistro
is a soulful Parisian retreat in the heart of Northwest DC —
bridging the energy of DuPont Circle, the edge of
Adams Morgan, and the vibrancy of U Street.

This cozy all-day café and classic French bistro is
housed in a historic flatiron building.

Mornings are self-serve and easy—fresh coffee,
warm pastries, and welcoming space for 1 or many.
Evenings bring full service, Parisian melodies, timeless bistro fare,
and carefully selected wines in an inviting setting
layered with vintage moody charm.”
