“Single tracking to impact Blue, Orange, and Silver lines
This weekend, Saturday, Feb. 10 and Sunday, Feb. 11, Metro’s Red Line will be closed between Takoma and Rhode Island Ave stations, with no Red Line service at Fort Totten and Brookland. Free shuttle buses will replace trains and the upper-level Green Line platform will remain open at Fort Totten providing an alternative for some customers traveling into downtown DC.
During the weekend, Metro will install radio and fiber-optic cables to upgrade communications systems and support future technology improvements. Crews will also perform additional signaling, track and system maintenance between the Red Line stations.
On the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines, service will be adjusted to accommodate single tracking between McPherson Sq and Smithsonian stations. Workers will replace rail and fasteners, weld together sections of rail to eliminate joints for a safer, smoother ride, along with other mechanical and system maintenance. (more…)

While Jelly certainly has a playful kitten side, he is generally a very calm, protective, and serious guy. He takes his time warming up to new people but can definitely be bribed with some Churus. Once Jelly gets to know you and decides you’re in, you’re in! He will even request belly rubs — and it’s never a trap! Jelly loves his sisters very much and is ever the protective brother, spending a lot of his time looking out for them. He likes to have his eyes on all the action, even if most of the time he chooses to observe rather than participate. If you’re looking for an adorable, loving kitten without all the kitten hijinks, Jelly’s the guy for you. Apply today!

“The electric vehicle making the biggest impact on people’s mobility and the environment is the electric bike. The world’s 280 million electric bikes (compared to just 20 million electric cars) are cutting global oil demand by about one million barrels a day — four times more than electric cars are displacing. As smaller, lighter vehicles than cars, the production of electric bikes also consumes far fewer resources and produces much less carbon. The lithium needed for one electric Hummer can power 400 electric bikes!
While the Biden Administration and automakers are now pushing towards electric cars, DC is leapfrogging their efforts by offering electric bike rebates to citizens, building out the proper infrastructure, and creating an environment where people don’t need to spend >$10,000 a year on a car (or 2nd car).
This is where King Electric comes into play, who just opened their new Experience Center in Foggy Bottom at 502 23RD ST NW. (more…)
