Starting this month, DC-area athletes, design fans, and real estate aficionados alike can enjoy the latest issue of what the real estate bible The Real Deal describes as “McSweeney’s meets Dwell” — the company magazine from DC’s tech-driven brokerage Compass. Following the launch of the premiere issue last fall, the spring edition of Compass Quarterly is themed around The Active Life, blending curated lifestyle content, high-end homes, and personal glimpses at Compass’ agents and how they engage with their communities.
With the agency having recently added offices in Chevy Chase and Georgetown to their Capitol Hill and Dupont Circle presences, there’s much local interest in the issue, including the voices of agents Veronica Seva-Gonzalez and Jeff Chin and the creative contributions of DC photographer Emma McAlary (Washington Post, Refinery29). Interspersed are DC properties across a myriad of neighborhoods, price points, and aesthetics: stately Colonials, charming Cape Cods, and graceful Victorian townhouses.
The issue also profiles seven startups driving innovation in the health sphere (including the entrepreneurial trio behind DC’s homegrown company Sweetgreen), looks at bike design across Compass markets, relays life learnings and business wisdom from Compass’ marathon-running CEO Robert Reffkin, and goes in-depth with how America’s cities are reclaiming their waterfronts, creating new public green space, from the banks of the Potomac to the Charles River to the Gowanus Canal.
In total, the issue reflects the firm’s vision of modernizing real estate with its unique blend of technology, data, design, and the premium service and market intel provided by the firm’s agents.
