I’m going to wager the garbage truck backed into the X2. Some of those guys drive like maniacs.

    • jdre

Especially if they’re running a bit late. I’ve seen them a block or two from Dupont Circle at what seemed like 40 miles an hour, throwing it in reverse out of an alley, pulling over to the side of the road like it was a GTA game.

    one word: dedicatedlanes

    • Anony

Technically that should be two words

You couldn’t make this stuff up — it’s like they’re trying to go through all the possible permutations by which the streetcar can be stymied.

  • Philippe Lecheval

You all wanted a streetcar. And now you got it.

    • jaanku

      nobody wanted the street

      • Philippe Lecheval

All the H Street property owners sure wanted it pretty bad.

        • OP Anon

          Free money!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks DC, government.

        • marybindc

Except for the ones who went out of business while the streets and sidewalks were torn up, of course.

    • KH

Not true. I am an area home owner and I did not want it and I am confident that this is also true for many of my neighbors. Now I just try to make the best of the situation.

      • ChonHst

Don’t understand all the hatred of the streetcars from area home owners. As one myself, I’ve used it a few times and don’t see how it affects surrounding residents negatively. Is it a big waste of money? yes. Is it functional in its current form? no. But I don’t see how it can be considered a “situation”!

    • Thunder

Yes we do, and it’s a smooth ride.

  • wdc

What is the appeal of streetcars again?

    • dc_anon

It gives the folks over at ggw something to play urban planner with

    • anon

greater capacity, lower operating costs, stability and predictability of routes for future investment, smoother ride, and they’re shiny.

      • You forgot that they also go #ChooChoo…at least, according to the marketing materials.

    • Formerly ParkViewRes

I love the streetcar system up here in Toronto. We use it more than the subway system.

  • jaanku

And across town a dump truck collided with a metrobus around 14 and K this morning.

  • Lyle Lanley

Things are starting to look like North Haverbrook, down on H street…

I feel lik this perfectly encapsulates the story of local government in DC

  • Mister_Fed_Up

    “The Aristocrats!”

  • J_MIL

So a bus collides with a garbage truck – and the street car is to blame? The anti-streetcar zealots on Popville are out of control …
