I Love That They Still Use ‘Estates’

It just sounds cool. “Why, I live in the NCBA Estates, of course!”. Very dignified. This is why I like the fact that I live in a place called Riverbrook Estate.

    Technically housing estate are not necessarily the equivalent of “the projects.” A housing estate can be a private development and could be quite middle class.

    A “council estate” is the equivalent of a project – an estate built by the city or town council.

    In Scotland they are known as council “schemes” and those who inhabit schemes known as “Schemies.”
