Do As I Say Not As I Do Vol. 1,472

“Dear PoPville,

Any idea how to persuade DC remove a city owned car that’s been parked illegally at R and New Hampshire, NW for over a week? The irony is that it looks like a parking enforcement car!”

The Rapture came, this guy was the only one worthy.

  • In the past, DDOT & other enforcement agencies have been very responsive to the tweets. You can try @DDOTDC, @DCDMV, @DCDPW, @DCPoliceDept

  • Parking enforcement vehicles can park wherever they want (assuming the parking enforcement person is conducting work). In fact, I have rarely if ever seen a parking enforcement vehicle not parked illegally at the ends of blocks where the meter maid is writing tickets (or doubleparked).

    • Wouldn’t that be only when they are working? This car has been here for over a week.

      • Sure, but I guess my presumption is there is something wrong with the car. If no one can park there anyway, and the city has been notified, who cares? Honestly, is this dramatically impacting OP’s life? The idea someone takes time to report something that has literally no impact on their life is strange to me. I doubt the car is parked there for sh*ts and giggles.

        • The car is sticking out into the driving lane. This is dangerous. There’s also usually a reason why a stretch is designated no parking (parked cars would block visibility, drop offs only, security reasons). All of these could impact many people.

        • Road space is marked as illegal to park for a reason, not just for sh*ts and giggles. I’m sure it’s illegal to park there either as a fire lane, blocking line-of-sight to see cars coming, etc. So yes, it’s dangerous to the OP and all others.

  • You know what would be a better feature for PoP? Pictures of government officials (elected and not) actually parking LEGALLY! Those must be super hard to find and therefore better for sharing!

  • $10 says this jackwad ran out of gas.

  • Relatedly: I saw a car with low numbered plates driving down the wrong side of a divided street the other day. Any way I can report the mayor’s friends for almost killing people?

  • I reported it a while ago, but no response. Ridiculous.

  • I noticed this on Saturday. Can’t believe it’s been there a week. It’s definitely annoying and somewhat dangerous because the rear end juts out into R Street, as the pictures show.
