Bye-bye waistline, hello Bavarian Creme! I know some people will be mad that this isn’t becoming some specialty coffee shop that only serves organic grounds plucked from the dung of a wallaby, but I for one couldn’t be happier. I love me some DD.

    • I couldn’t agree more! I am a boston cream girl myself, but I have been known to enjoy a bavarian cream from time to time!!

I think it’s good this isn’t becoming a specialty coffee shop, since Qualia is right up the street and I would hate to see them lose business. I don’t think Dunkin Donuts is going to take away too many potential customers from them, since they have totally different vibes…Qualia is where you go when you want a really good cup of coffee or pastry, D&D is where you go when you’re more in a rush/just want to grab your coffee and get out.

This is going to be so great come spring time. Walk down to D&D, get an iced coffee, take a stroll….Of course this will not diminish my love/patronage of Qualia, but sometimes D&D just hits the spot like no other.

  • I’m just glad to see something finally come into that building. It was ridiculous how long those spaces were vacant.

  • All that wait, plus a real-estate divorce, and we still got EXACTLY what the “bad” partner would have wanted: a national chain that can open up a shop without batting an eye.

    • Well, they were vacant before and now they are filling up–even if you don’t love what’s going in, it seems like progress has occurred since the sale.

Plus, the $62 million sale resulted in over $1.15 million in real estate transfer taxes going to the District’s coffers. That’s money that can be used for good things.

Dunkin’ Donuts is really on a store opening spree. I’ve lost count on how many are about to open. Did DC just get a new franchisee or something?

  • Am I the only one who is excited about the ice cream parlor half of this? I think that is something this neighborhood can use…

    • Right there with you! They’ll kill it in summer time (even though BR ice cream leaves a lot to be desired). And i’m going to be fat.

  • Awesome. Finally have a DD I can walk to! Looking forward to it.
