Brookland Manor apartments need to get redeveloped ASAP. Please.

  • Another shooting in Shaw last night after the NStPark drug gang shooting down the street last week during the middle of the day?

Responsible sane parents would keep their babies out of this drug gang shooting gallery. Mayor Gray, DPR Director Shanklin, Tommy Wells, Wells’ former staffer/Council candidate Charles Allen, ANC6E Vice Chair Commissioner Rachelle Nigro, and AWOL Chair of the ANC Public Safety Committee ANC6E Frank Wiggins (whose SMD the park shooting occured in) should have the park locked and closed at least until they find the gunmen. This has been known drug gang turf since Mayoral candidate Chris Crowder (who appeared on ’60 Minutes’ railing against drug crime and District officials failures) was shot in the N Street Park back in 2006:

The violent drug gangs have taken over this park and District officials have done nothing to effectively deter them.

    • There are a lot of known drug areas like this with ongoing crime yet the police do little to combat the ongoing issues. DC police needs an overhaul. Leadership and enforcement/policing tactics.

FWIW, I drove past here around 4pm Saturday and MPDs jumpout squad was out in full force on both sides of the street. Sometimes it just doesn’t matter how close the cops are – it’s a much deeper problem than police deployment.

    • Do we know that this Shaw shooting is drug-related?

      • No, and we don’t know that it had anything to do with Brookland Manor either. But why would you let facts get in the way of an opportunity to call for the teardown of every housing project, or place where anyone living at or below the poverty level could afford to live.

  • Great quote – “too many youths are violent and disrespectful”!!

  • Heard this was a drive-by at Uptown Ethiopian.
