Hallelujah – Lyman’s Tavern Opens Soon! Update Opened at 6:30pm!

14th and Quincy St, NW (next to Red Derby)

UPDATE: Kevin from Lyman’s now says that the Post “jumped the gun” a bit and is not opening at 11am today. Should be soon though. Will update when I hear directly from Kevin. Sorry about the false excitement. If all goes with a few minor details they could be open by 5pm today.

Update: Opened at 630pm!

We took a sneak peek of the sweet space exactly a month ago. The wait ends today soon! Washington Post reports:

“Lyman’s Tavern opens for business at 11 a.m. Monday.

It’s a one-room saloon with half a dozen draft beers, four pinball machines, a killer jukebox and free popcorn fresh from a popper behind the bar.”

A couple weeks ago Lyman’s teased us with a shot of their pinball machines on Facebook:

While Red Derby has set the bar extremely high for great neighborhood spots, it looks like Lyman’s will be an exceptionally worthy neighbor – can’t wait to finally see for myself!

  • Duuuuuuuuuuude. I love OFF ROAD!!!!

  • did they finish the patio?

  • So happy to see this. With the Red Derby, Mad Momo’s and now Lyman’s Tavern anchoring this intriguing stretch of upper 14th St , it shouldn’t be long before a few restaurants move in. Any place with a full menu could survive on the overflow from Red Derby alone! Untapped potential. People from Columbia Heights as well as Petworth head to this strip all the time. In a few years, if done right, it could be similar to the beloved 11th St strip in Columbia Heights.

    • what do you like about mad momos? it’s always a bit blah for me.

      • Agreed. It was nice the two times I went when it was kinda new. But there’s nothing making me go back when I’m considering options.

        • I wasn’t judging the Momo’s, but it does fairly good business. Red Derby is obviously the top anchor.

  • YES!

Attack from Mars, AC/DC and street fighter? What’s the fourth?

  • We saw them getting a beer delivery this past Friday so it can’t be too long…

  • Is that an actual CD jukebox? I love it.
