  • Yeeea! Love AE shoes and gear! Moved into the apartments about a month ago.

  • Good to see this opening up. Any news who else is coming?
There have been a few other retailers named, but mostly just background stuff, no real big destination names. Apple and TopShop are out, Uniqlo is still just a rumor and didn’t make the firm’s recent expansion list with Boston and Philly.

This has been so hyped for so many years as the Union Square/Mich Ave of DC. I’m curious if they are having a tough time attracting big names or the developers are just playing coy and will shortly announce the tenants in a “big bang” type announcement.

    • Confirmed – Hermes, Hugo boss, Zadig & Voltaire, and Burberry. 3 restaurants and some coffee shops (not the big chains).

      • Where are those confirmed exactly? I’ve seen scuttle about Burberry, but nothing public about it or anything else being officially announced. Washington Business Journal had an article today about retail there and there was no mention of Hermes, HB, or Z&V. Or any restaurants to date.

      • Oh. Ew. I have no $$$ for that. I want Uniqlo nowwwww

    • Michigan Avenue is a little different than Union Square which was one of the places where discounting was born and remains far from upscale.

So far, there doesn’t seem to be any kind of anchor merchant to draw traffic and it’s taken literal decades for nearby F Street to show sustained signs of life. To succeed it needs stores that are truly unique to the area or at least have no other branches other than may be some place like Tysons.

    • Uniqlo is in talks with CCDC. Hopefully there is a decision and an announcement soon.

  • Longchamp also announced today. Because clearly there is a shortage of Longchamp bags available to the women of DC.

  • Is there any opening day sale or anything? I like their shoes, but they’re pricy.

  • I’ve heard rumblings that the residents who have moved into the condos have been experiencing several construction issues and residents are not happy with Hines. Perhaps Hines is focusing its attention more on securing retail tenants…
