1410 14th Street, NW
Tons of Logan Circle news this week. This space has been vacant since Mar de Plata closed back in May ’09. For a hot second it looked like a Fiat dealership would be taking over the space. Yesterday Washingtonian shared details about the Black Whiskey bar which will be taking over the space:
Darren Lee Norris says his new project, Black Whiskey, will debut in about 90 days.
Word came in the fall that the Kushi chef-owner signed a lease at 1410 14th Street, Northwest, and is transforming the two-story space into a whiskey bar and mixed-use art gallery.
More details on the space here.
We judged Kushi back in March 2010.

Question to residents - thank you in advance. I am considering purchasing a 1st level...
Thank you for this, I had no idea about this type of thing. It also makes me think that...
Disgusting.
It'll take a while. After I moved a block down the road, a friend called me a week before...
*unfriend*
this sounds promising!
Excellent! Anything from anyone related to Kushi would pique my interest; the whiskey and what sounds like an interesting space make me look forward to it even more.
I’m now going to lodge the request of new owners every time a place is renovated or refurbished: PLEASE ramp the one step at the entrance, to provide wheelchair access.
Sounds like a great addition. I love whiskey. I am a little puzzled that, according to the Washingtonian piece, it is also going to have a “flexible art space” on the first floor with “deejays spinning on certain nights.” Something about a whiskey bar and spinning deejays seems strange. I look forward to checking it out.
small batch bourbons & Scottish fare? black whiskey (what does that even mean)? whiskey bar and mixed-use art gallery that will also feature lunch? looks like an awesome group doing it, but this concept sounds scattered.
More good news. Any word, did I miss anythinng, on the former HR 57 space?
