Wilkowski, the first woman Ambassador in the US Foreign Service, will be speaking on her career and her autobiography “Abroad for Her Country ” in the Washingtoniana Division on Tuesday, September 4. First appointed ambassador to Zambia in 1972, Wilkowski’s 35 years of service included postings in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. In 1995, she was awarded the Foreign Service Cup. The lecture will begin at 6 p.m. The Washingtoniana Division is located in the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library at 901 G St. N.W. near the Metro Center and Gallery.
