I have on a very good source that the Eagle bar is returning on Jan 22nd. My source tells me they will be at 1357 U Street NW.
My guess is it’s different owners than the folks who had the DC Eagle up to 2020 (which was in NE)… looking this up led me down an interesting rabbit hole on the ownership structure and relationship between the Eagle bars in different cities (apparently there is none!)
Anyway, fun news about another gay bar!”

“I just had a conversation with Cedric Maupillier, chef and owner of Convivial in DC. Much of it was off the record but here’s the unfortunate takeaway:
Convivial is closing Dec. 22.
Many factors played into the decision: crime, location, back rent.
It’s a big loss.”

Uptown Theater‘s large red outdoor title lights are ON this morning….perhaps a sign? Lots of us hope the $2.2 billion renovation plans announced recently by AMC & other movie chains will include the Uptown…..”

Last we heard about plans back in 2023 was: Owners have “entered into a letter of intent with an “arts/theater group”…

What is the deal with Alfresco in Adams Morgan? It’s been closed for months now and it makes me so sad to see such a gorgeous space so empty. Sometimes I’ll see people working around inside and have hope they’ll reopen soon but no luck. Anyone know?”
