According to folks at The Passenger in Shaw, this weekend was them + Qui Qui’s (“Bringing the Authentic flavors of Puerto Rico to the Nation’s Capital.“) last night because someone bought out the building 😭 the new owners want to turn it into a tavern but nobody has been told anything. We’re devastated 😭”
On google Qui Qui is currently listed as temporarily closed:
Back in 2018 The Washington Business Journal reported that the building was for sale. Though at that time it said “The popular bar will convey to the buyer as a tenant.”
There are no updates after June 19th on the Passengers socials “God Save The District ☠️” or, still live, website – which says: “No bullshit cocktail bar serving up custom beverages since 2009.”
I tried to confirm with a very good source but they were unwilling to confirm. However, they were also unwilling to deny…
