Thanks to Allison for sending: “I just wanted to share that I had a super easy time getting my Pfizer booster through GW! You can pre-register online, however they easily accommodate walk-ins.

I was checked-in immediately around 9:45 and boosted right after, then out the door after the 15min safety period!

I had previously tried to book a booster online via One Medical (no appointments) and CVS/Walgreens (two-week lead time) so just wanted to spread the news since it may be a bit more efficiently run than a city site.

Thanks and happy holidays!”

Regarding testing other readers write:

“FYI I got an exposure alert so I tried to get tested at the Sherman Ave nw firehouse and they said they ran out of their tests today and yesterday so it seems like testing demand is way back up. Don’t run up right at 7:30 like I just tried to if you need one!

Might want to let folks know the demand is way up! Guessing a mix of omicron + holiday travel”

“Just wanted to make sure people are aware of Curative testing sites since they’re not on the DC testing website but they have a ton of appointments available, including same day at a bunch of them. I went yesterday at 1 and they were super friendly and I got my results back already at 6:30 this morning. Thanks!”

From MPD:

“Dear 1D Community,

We have recently seen an uptick in the theft of catalytic converters from cars parked on public streets. These incidents have occurred across the district, and while they are most common overnight, we have had some occur during daytime hours as well. Their theft requires access to the undercarriage of the car, either jacking it up or crawling under vehicles with higher clearance such as trucks and SUVs. They are then generally cut out with a simple cordless angle grinder; that part of the operation is usually very loud and noticeable. The thieves will often use a truck and operate in teams; the entire process can occur in less than a minute. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Sunday outside of the Adams Morgan Community Center, a couple in their 30s said their car was towed with all their belongings and had no means of getting it back without cash. They claimed to be law students at GW and that they were married (neither wearing wedding rings). They said they had no family or friends here since they just moved to DC. They would venmo me back in 2 hours and I could have their phone and ID as collateral. I had my car towed when I first moved here so I was too sympathetic to their story. (more…)
