I wanted to flag for our community’s attention that with the summer season coming up, there are scary sophisticated scammers to look out for. I almost fell victim to one. My partner and I have been looking for rowhouses in DC and came across a beautiful one in the Adams Morgan neighborhood on Seaton Street NW. The pictures were real (corroborated by Zillow), the utilities were included, and the price was just right to convince us this was a great opportunity to jump on. (more…)

Yesterday AlertDC reported: ” US Air Force reports a flyover in the NCR consisting of two (2) military aircrafts at National Park on Thursday, April 7th, 2022 at 3:59PM.”
The Nats confirmed “Flyover by the 113th Wing, 121st Fighter Squadron from the D.C. Air National Guard, in F-16 Jets”
Since the game was pushed back to 7:05pm, presumably this will now occur at 6:59. Anyway if you see/hear some fighter jets later, this is why.

Stopped by Sangria Bar and Grill (Georgia and Newton NW) last night. The bartender (owner?), Marvin, was extremely nice and helpful. I had three of the four tacos which were all fantastic. My friend also really liked their quesadilla. They’ve only been open for three weeks and I was told they are still adjusting the menu, but people should definitely check them out.

For anybody who didn’t know, May 1 is the first date landlords may raise rents in rent-controlled units, following a freeze on increases amid the pandemic. Landlord have to provide 30 days notice, which means lots of tenants should be receiving letters around now. (more…)

Last night I was enjoying date night at Doi Moi when someone opened my purse hanging off my chair and stole my wallet. I’m devastated and feeling like my faith in humanity is broken since this is the second time in 1 year I’ve been robbed. I didn’t see who did it and didn’t notice it was gone until I got a fraud alert from my bank. I send this in to warn people to not let your guard down like I did. I’ve seen stop lights on both Mass Ave and K Street NW be both red and green at the same time. It’s obviously confusing and possibly dangerous for pedestrians/cyclists when no one knows what the light is actually trying to tell you! I’ve never seen this before. (more…)
