TO THE WHITE PIT BULL OWNER IN BRIGHTWOOD (and dog owners generally):

PLEASE LEASH YOUR DOG, EVEN IF THEY ARE FRIENDLY (and don’t be a d**k!)

Saturday afternoon, I was hanging out at a neighborhood park in Brightwood, sitting on a picnic blanket with my (leashed) dog at reclining by my side. The park was mostly empty except for at one point when a man passed by walking his (leashed) German Shepherd. He and his dog stayed at a distance and were totally fine. But the next thing I know, as I’m about to go back to my sketchbook, my dog starts freaking out and screaming bloody murder at something behind me. When I turn around, I see a third dog, an unleashed white pit bull, charging towards us. (more…)

“Pet parents in the NoMa / H Street / Capital Hill area, please be aware that there is a woman stealing dogs from outside businesses.

She stole a dog on Saturday, May 21 from the Giant at H and 3rd NE, then attempted to take another dog from the Union Kitchen on F and 3rd NE on Monday, May 23, only hours after the first dog was taken back from her. (more…)

DC DMV reports: “Due to a technical issue, in-person and online transactions that require photo imaging are currently unavailable. Service to resolve this issue will be completed as soon as possible.”


“Dear PoPville,

At around 3:45AM this morning, a man entered my house on the 4700 block of Colorado Ave NW while my wife and I were home and took her purse off the kitchen counter. He came in through our patio door in back, which was not locked at the time.

By coincidence I happened to be awake and heard the door open, so I immediately ran after him but was too far behind to catch him. He ran down the alley, got onto a bike, and rode away. (more…)
