“Dear PoPville,

I swam in college and have tried to keep up with swimming as one of my primary forms of exercise, but I really miss swimming with other people. When I lived near AU I swam with the master’s team that trains there and it was great. Now I live in the U St area and haven’t been able to figure out an official or unofficial group of people to swim with. One of my roommates found a great listserv/Facebook group of tennis players and I wonder if there’s something similar for swimming either for the U St area or DC as a whole.”

Long time coming but finally getting there.

“The Hearst Park & Pool includes design and construction of two brand new tennis courts with a practice wall, the renovation of the existing soccer field, a new pool and pool house, remediation of site drainage, runoff and erosion issues. The Project will also include landscaping, fencing, site furnishings, amenities, signage, and pathways.”

And thanks to Jenny for sending a couple of visitors to the soccer field: Read More

“Dear PoPville,

I’m wondering if you’d be interested in a post asking folks if their DC apartment complex pools are fully opened and staffed? Management at the Promenade in Adams Morgan, is claiming to residents (in both of their buildings) that the DC-area lifeguard shortage is ongoing and that they can only get lifeguards to split days between their two buildings. At the Promenade, our pool is only open Thu-Sat. They are not stating this in their website or giving residents any indication that it will open with posted hours anytime soon.”
