“Dear PoPville,

I write to you to highlight what appears to be a systemic problem and/or waste of resources by the D.C. Housing Authority and its employees at their headquarters, located at 1133 North Capitol St. NE in NoMa.

Although the Housing Authority has two parking lots (an open lot in the front of their building and a gated lot behind as noted in some of the pictures, in addition to paid parking in lots at 44-88 M St NE), the Housing Authority routinely and consistently parks their DC government vehicles in metered spots on both M St NE and Pierce St NE. “Dear PoPville,

To be clear, I parallel parked like normal, and went into Church only to come out to find this. I may have tapped the car behind me, and to be honest, my bumper isn’t the mess this note suggests. I went over to the police department to see if anything had been filed. Nothing.

Does anyone else find it odd this person typed this up? Is it possible others have received these and this is just a scare tactic?”

“In DC ticket hell, car parked in a legit spot to go on a work trip, was ticketed for violating rush hour zone (no signs), towed to an illegitimate spot where I was ticketed and towed again. 4 tickets and $400 dollars later, no email response from @charlesallen or ANC. Any advice?” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Came back from a two week trip to find this little gem hand delivered to my house. Seems members of congress have some new parking enforcement powers over cap hill residents I was unaware of. I’m a Capitol Hill resident for 8 years. No parking restrictions or construction signs were posted. I think dude just resented not being able to park in front of his house.”

“Dear PoPville,

Anyone have experience getting a “reserved” (I.e. one permit holder only) parking space in front of their house? My house doesn’t have its own parking space, but my back fence is right on the street, no sidewalk. I noticed some houses around DC have a specific permit number requirement on the parking signs for just one space, which I assume is for just one car owner. I know it is a public street but how have others done this? Pay a fee to the city and agree to maintain it or something? I’m thinking about getting an electric car, so having a reserved space would be great, if possible.”

“Dear PoPville,

We have a neighbor (flipper?) who is renovating a house a few doors down from us. In April, they put up emergency no parking signs for a rollaway debris container, reserving three out of four parking spots in front of our house. They ended up only having the dumpster there for a week or so, but they kept the signs up for the full month to use it as parking for their contractor (MD plates). In May they put up new signs for another month, and this time-with just four days left on the permit- no dumpster has showed up, at all. They’ve just been using it as reserved parking this whole time, and the spaces sit empty on nights and weekends. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Thought you might like this – we got this notice about a movie filming in the next couple weeks on Wisconsin Ave.

Magichour (notice awesome logo) is actually Wonder Woman 2, according to the Google.”

Side Note: My sources on the street tell me that Chris Pine and Kristen Wiig were spotted at Chaia (3207 Grace Street, NW.) No Gal Gadot sightings yet.

“Dear PoPville,

May want to let the universe know that there is an issue with the DDOT/DPW systems and DPW is sometimes not receiving the online sign verification request (with uploaded photos) from DDOT – the new procedure described on the back of the new signs that started June 1.

Also, while I am struggling to get my signs verified (which were properly posted more than 72 hours in advance), PoP readers, PLEASE if you are parked at 18th and Biltmore in Adams Morgan, move your car by Friday morning at 8 for my moving truck. Thanks!”
