From Bardo:

“DC’s Bardo Brewing is reopening the outdoor portion of their venue in Trinidad this Friday. A newly renovated outdoor bar incorporates freshly milled wood and provides a glimpse of the finishes that will be featured at the new Bardo Riverfront brew garden next to Nats Stadium.

Ed. Note: A Craigslist ad says: “expected to open between Apr 1 & May 1“.

Bardo Brewing’s interior boasts one hundred year old pine floors, brick walls and early century, press plate ceilings. Bardo also hosts the largest (for now) beer garden in the city. A wide variety of GABF award winning house brews are available in pints and pitchers as well as growlers. Bardo is 100% dog friendly every day with 15,000 square feet in our beer garden to roam off leash. Located at 1200 Bladensburg rd NE, Bardo has cornhole, big screen movie viewings/sports and is available for private parties/fundraisers, large and small, with no charge for the space.

in the spring we are open mon-fri at 5pm, sat/sun at 12pm

Spring It On! Saturday, March 19 at Cantina Marina, DC’s only Dock Bar.

What better way to ring in Spring than to celebrate the re-opening of Cantina Marina from winter hibernation?

Enjoy live music by the Wil Gravatt Band with high-energy, foot-tapping country, rock and honky-tonk tunes.

There will be fun food and drink re-opening specials — so gather your friends and “Spring It On!”

“Town Danceboutique, Shaw’s iconic Gay super-club, at the corner of 8th and U, has opened a brand new stunning outdoor Patio this year. The expansive 4000 square foot outdoor space is a remarkably unique, comfortable, and an amazingly appointed outdoor full service bar serving drinks six days a week (closed Mondays). There are multiple draft beer selections, a fully stocked bar, (and, at times, an on premise food truck with it’s service window right on the Patio.) The Patio is open during the week (Tuesday-Thursday) at 6pm for happy hour and evening drinks, at 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays for daytime fun in the sun, and of course, the Patio is open on Friday and Saturday nights to create an even more dynamic, multi-faceted experience at Town. Tuesdays are Yappy Hour – a special event for guests that want to bring their dogs and enjoy the happy hour specials.

The Patio’s extensive landscaping, misting system, and bar design provides relief on hotter days…and multiple heating units make it comfortable on cooler spring and fall nights. In addition to landscaping that includes Crepe Myrtle and Japanese Elm trees, the Patio was designed using re-purposed, 100 year old barn wood from the midwest and 100 year old ceiling beams that were salvaged from the newly renovated Chocolate Factory downtown.

In a city that loves it’s outdoor bar spaces, the Town Patio is a special place with a unique design, an easygoing staff, and a perfect location.”

From the photos it looks like it’s already become a moderately popular spot…

From All Souls Bar facebook:

“Dear Friends and Neighbors,

We are in the process of applying for a patio permit in the empty space on 8th Street next to the bar. This is being met with opposition. Once again we feel this opposition is unwarranted with some misinterpretation of the law and our intentions.

We’ve attended the last two ANC ABRA committee meetings to present our ideas and discuss them with the neighborhood. You can read about them here thanks to Short Articles about Long Meetings:
http://shortarticlesaboutlongmeetings.blogspot.com/…/all-so…
http://shortarticlesaboutlongmeetings.blogspot.com/…/two-qu…

Our intention is to create an outdoor space for the neighborhood to enjoy. An extension of who we are; a simple gathering place that is cared for and well maintained. We want to take a barren lot and surround it with trees and plantings to beautify the corner for pedestrians and patrons alike.

We want a patio with table service only—no standing, no speakers and no smoking (sorry folks). A patio with limited hours. We want a place that will enhance our neighborhood by making it greener and safer by having more eyes on the street. A place that is not a threat to peace, order and quiet.

If you believe in All Souls and our outdoor vision please let the ANC know how you feel. We will need all the support we can get before our next committee meeting April 15.

The ABRA committee meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month, which is April 15th, at the Thurgood Marshall Center at 1816 12th St, NW. It is open to the public as is the ANC meeting on May 7th. We’ll keep you posted on both.

Thanks for your help,
David Batista / All Souls”

dacha_opening
7th and Q St, NW

Last week I begged Dacha to hurry up. If you will it, it is no dream.

From a press release:

“Team Dacha is excited to announce the much anticipated reopening of Shaw’s own, expanded and improved, Dacha Beer Garden this coming Thursday, March 19th at 4:00 pm!

We gutted the China Express building next door and installed new bathrooms and a new kitchen on the 1st floor. The plan to build an extension to the main historic structure that will expand the restaurant and bar spaces to the 2nd and 3rd floors is still active. We will continue working with our neighbors and the Historic Preservation Review Board to approve the plans and move forward.

What to expect at the opening:

First 50 guests will receive beautiful, complimentary Dacha t-shirts.
– The same great casual set-up with several major improvements.
– Brand new sparkling bathrooms. Porta potties no more!
– Expanded beer menu, with the addition of Weihenstephaner Pale Ale and All Day IPA from Founders Brewing Company.
– Expanded grounds with more canopy coverage and larger guest areas.

The Happy Hour will remain, Monday through Thursday, lasting from 3pm to 7pm including $5 singles and $10 boots of select drafts.

What to expect in the next few weeks:

– Full kitchen slated to open in April.
– Expanded menu to start in April.
Dacha Market and Coffee will start operating from the former China Express carry out store front in April. The market will feature self-serve coffee, pastry, sandwiches, occasional gourmet groceries, juices, milk, fresh bread, cold cuts and more. In the morning the market will greet guests with freshly brewed coffee, pastries and a selection of breakfast sandwiches. Our upcoming online ordering system will allow guests to order their lunch and dinner then pick it up at Dacha Market and Coffee.

Thanks again for your continued support of Dacha Beer Garden. We cannot wait to welcome you and your loved ones at the garden this coming Thursday!

Dacha Beer Garden is a pleasant, green neighborhood epicenter that has been warmly received and endorsed by the community. Dacha serves a carefully curated selection of world-class German, Belgian and American beers, a variety of meads, ciders and wines – all accompanied by German and Eastern European inspired menu. The open-air format, comfortable seating, and convenient location make Dacha an easy choice, while affordable prices offer a great dinner/lunch alternative to a restaurant or a take out.

We’re changing the world, one beer at a time.”
