From ABCA:

“On September 10, 2025, the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA) and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) shut down two businesses for illegal cannabis sales.

The Closure Orders were executed at Chocolate City Wellness, a licensed retailer, and Citgo Gas Station, an unlicensed retailer, due to activities that posed an imminent danger to public health and safety, specifically the sale of illegal cannabis products that were untested by a licensed testing laboratory and lacked the required labeling.

The operation was part of the city’s ongoing enforcement efforts following the enactment of the Medical Cannabis Conditional License and Unlicensed Establishment Closure Clarification Emergency Amendment Act of 2024, which granted ABCA new civil enforcement powers. Since the bill took effect on July 15, 2024, joint agency efforts have resulted in the padlocking of 71 illegal cannabis businesses.

“Dear PoPville,

So, at the risk of sounding like a prude I have to ask: What’s with all the dispensaries? Every other storefront that opens is a CBD and pot dispensary. Fine, the traffic at the Takoma store is always crazy, super well staffed and they do brisk business. What about the others? (more…)
