Nature’s Table has closed on 19th Street in south Dupont. I’m told a new restaurant with a similar menu called Maso will be opening in the space in about 5 weeks. Updates when they open. Were there any fans of Nature’s Table?

A reader reports:
“Beer & Welding sandwiches in Dupont is closed. I stopped by today, the Oasis Market guy said that they were “undergoing a change in management” or something to that effect and could re-open in a few months. It didn’t seem promising.”
Beer and Welding sandwich shop opened up in Oasis Market back in April with very positive reviews. Their last day was Jan. 22nd.
1901 L Street, NW
“Best damn sandwich on the planet” and a place to get a beer too.
Melt Shop’s liquor license placard says:
“New restaurant specializing in quick-service, casual, artisanal sandwiches. Seating for 30 inside the premises and total occupancy load of 90. Sidewalk Cafe with seating for 15 patrons. No entertainment.”
Hours are listed as Sunday through Saturday 11am – 9pm.

One less lunch option for 19th Street – G Street Foods 2nd location which opened in 2012 closed a couple weeks ago. Their original location on G Street and new downtown location remain open:
1025 Vermont Ave, NW just north of K Street
Lots of folks have been anticipating this one. You can see Which Wich Superior Sandwiches menu here. Their 1800 E Street NW location should be opening shortly too.

1129 20th Street, NW
“Dear PoPville,
I went to get lunch at Newton’s Noodles today and they were closed during prime lunch hours without any activity inside or a sign on the door. I am bummed because I love this place. Any idea about what’s going on? It reads like the signs of a business closing to me.”
Newton’s Noodles opened with much fanfare back in October 2013. In response to a query on their facebook page, Newton’s Noodles wrote on November 17th:
“We are moving to a new location. A little smaller of a space that supports both a lunch and dinner business. More info to come shortly.”

Last week we learned Which Wich Superior Sandwiches was coming to Vermont Ave just north of K Street in addition to 1800 E Street, NW. A rep from Which Wich writes with a brief update:
“The Vermont Ave location will be opening hopefully December 15, and the second location at 1800 E Street NW will be opening a few days later.”
