“Dear PoPville,
Yesterday (Wednesday) when I got on the metro, I found pocketbook / wallet left on a seat. I asked those on the car if it was theirs or they saw whose it was, but no one did. Inside were a few pre-paid credit cards, a some cash, and a national identity card for a South American country. Since her name was there, I looked online to try to find her, and do think I found a Facebook page and LinkedIn page for her. I sent her messages on both platforms last night, but haven’t heard back. Today, I called and emailed the DC location of the embassy her identity card is from, thinking that with the card they might be able to reach her, but haven’t heard back from them, either. Read More
“Dear PoPville,
I’m hoping the community may be able to help find two items- my grandfather’s high school class ring and my grandmother’s phi beta kappa key, which were both stolen along with a few other sentimental items like an old golf tee and a dog tag when my home was recently burglarized. I realize it’s a very slim chance, but given the personal value to me, I want to try any/all avenues. Read More
“Dear PoPville,
Wednesday night (Feb. 2) I snagged a paperback copy of “The Time Machine” from the Little Free Library on Holmead Place near Spring Road NW here in Columbia Heights.
I often find bookmarks that had been left in books like this, but this time the left-behinds were three beautiful glossy color family photos: Read More
“Dear PoPville,
I’ve tried my local listserv, facebook group etc with no luck, so you’re my last hope!
Sunday I found this envelope tucked under the windshield wiper of my car. The contents ended up being very valuable and clearly not meant for me. Is there any way you could help try to get in touch with the intended recipient? I’m sure they are very upset right now.”

From WMATA:
“Amid ongoing pandemic-related budget constraints, Metro today announced upcoming changes to its lost and found procedures to reduce administrative costs so the agency can continue to prioritize its core mission: providing safe and reliable transportation for the region.
Beginning March 1, Metro’s lost and found department will work to reunite customers with lost wallets and electronics (such as phones, tablets, and laptops) only. All other items lost in the system will be disposed of, donated to charity, destroyed, or auctioned. Read More

I want to reunite this treasure with the rightful owner – the writing on it looks like a kid’s, and younger me would’ve been pretty heartbroken to lose something like this.” Read More

“Dear PoPville,
It was lost somewhere on 1st street NW between big bear cafe and children’s National hospital when I was walking my dog. Would love to get it back! It was a gift when I was born from my grandpa.”

“Dear PoPville,
Last night someone ditched a large box of tools, small blue cooler, and a hand vacuum on the sidewalk in front of my house in Lamond-Riggs/Takoma. The tools look like they may belong to an electrician or a contractor that does something similar, and judging from the amount of things in there, I have a feeling they are very missed right now.
If anyone is able to help identify who might be missing these tools, I would love for them to be reunited!”

“Dear PoPville,
My name is Mathilde. Yesterday I lost my grandmother’s wedding ring. I am heartbroken because it was a memento from her: she passed 2 years ago.
The ring was on a chain that broke. I realized the chain had broken around 6:30pm in Brookland. The ring was not there anymore. I checked the 2 places I stopped at, and couldn’t find it, so I suspect the chain broke either when I walked from Rosslyn to Clarendon metro stations, on Wilson and Fairfax boulevards on Sunday 12/6 between about 3 and 5pm or when I took the metro from Brookland to Rosslyn (red line from Brookland CUA to Metro Center and then orange line from Metro Center to Rosslyn) from 2pm to 2:30 the same day. “
Should anyone have happened to found a ring yesterday at the listed locations please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP. Thank you.
