A friend of mine sends from 4th and I Street, NE “in case someone is missing something this morning…”

“Dear PoPville,
My roommates and I found a bright yellow/green parakeet at 16th and Oak St NW (Mt. Pleasant/Col. Heights). It appeared to be in good health, no injuries. We managed to get it into a bag and took it to the Washington Humane Society at 1201 New York Ave. NE. It’s hanging out there for now, awaiting its owner. Would you be able to post something to try to alert the owner? Much appreciated! I’ve attached a photo (post-rescue).”
Hope it’s not this guy again!
Some guy is very, very lucky…
“Dear PoPville,
I am writing because I found what looks to be a man’s gold wedding band at the corning of Q St. and 16th St. NW this morning. Can you post with the hopes of finding its owner. There is an engraving on the ring. If the owner can tell me what it says, I will be happy to return it to him. [rlivingston33(at)gmail.com] I also will report it to the police.”

“Dear PoPville,
He is an indoor cat and I can only imagine how scared, cold and disoriented he is.

“He responds to commands and has a black collar with national capitol area spay and neuter with vaccinations on it. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to keep him in our apartment, we registered him as a lost dog with the humane society and an animal control officer just came to pick him up. We hope he makes it home safe, he is so sweet! ”

“On my commute this morning, I found a blueish/purplish 8GB iPod Mini on the sidewalk in front of the McDonalds on 1st St NE. Doesn’t seem to have any info on it regarding the owner, but I’d like to try and get it to the owner if possible. Any thoughts/suggestions?”
Found Keys/Metro Cards (12th & D, NE):
“I found a set of keys last night that were attached to a carrying case. There were two metro cards inside. I’d love to get them back to their owner–please email me to give a brief description of the case/keys or the metro card numbers to identify them, and I’ll figure out a way to get them back to you! merecain at yahoo”

“Dear PoPville,
My husband and I were running in Rock Creek this morning and found the cat below in a tree. Well, actually, the park ranger and some other folks found him, but we volunteered to take him to a vet to see if he was chipped. Anyway, long story short – he IS chipped, but we’ve had no dice thus far contacting the owners. The chip service tells us his name is Ace. He is the sweetest cat ever, and it seems like he has been well-loved.”
If anyone knows Ace please contact alison.roach1980(at)gmail(dot)com

“Dear PoPville,
My fiancée and I live in mount pleasant and a cat followed us home into our apartment this evening (tues 8/20). She is declawed and although she has a collar she has no tags, which leads us to believe she is an indoor cat that has gotten lost. She was very thirsty, and we are hoping for some help in finding her owners.”
UPDATE – Owner Found – thanks everyone!

“Dear PoPville,
I found this little dog this morning on the corner of 18th & Allison St NW, in Crestwood. There is a little bit of a leash left on his collar, but no contact information. Planning to take him to a vet later today to see if he has a microchip, but also hoping someone will recognize him.
If you or anyone else knows anything about this little guy, please call me at 202.596.9763.”

“Dear PoP,
Hi, this morning I found a cockatiel in the north Mt. Pleasant area. Its wings appear to be clipped so I think he must be from nearby. I am currently caring for it but am hoping to return it to its owner.”
If this is your bird or you know who’s it is please email me at princeofpetworth(at)gmail and I’ll connect you with the reader.
