Thanks to Eric for sending this great shot: “Not a heron addict myself, but I think this was a juvenile perched on a fence on the Georgetown U campus. Very striking silhouette.”

Thanks to Heidi for sending this super cool shot: “Spied this guy (gal?) from my workstation downtown. There are two hawks who hang around the office building. Having a decent view, and watching the hawks, are two good things about being forced to return to the office full-time (there are more bad things than good things).”

Thanks to Amanda for sharing this beaut:

“Spotted in Forest Hills! We see/hear her occasionally and have taken to calling her Mildred the Fox (no idea is she’s actually a girl). But, she has been very territorial lately so thinking there might be some pups in the neighborhood!”

“On Friday around 2pm while going for a hike with my dog we encountered a coyote by the trail that passes Fort DeRussey. The coyote came onto the trail out of the woods and got very close to my dog before she scared it off. Attached is a blurry pic of the coyote after the encounter and a bonus pic of the brave dog.” (more…)
