“Dear PoPville,
I fell on my front steps tonight and was yelling and in a lot of pain. A very nice doctor (I think from Howard) stopped and talked me through it and was very kind. I wanted to thank him again – his name was Nas (I think? I was a little distracted).”

“Dear PoPville,
I would like to post a thank you and see if I can reach these people who helped me today. I (27F) was waiting for the bus on Florida Ave NE when this guy approached me, asking me for the bus schedule, and would not leave me alone after I tried telling him repeatedly that I didn’t know. He was telling me to check my phone for the bus schedule (potential play for my phone perhaps?) He was physically cornering me and I was uncomfortable and getting increasingly on edge. I don’t know if it would’ve gotten worse because (more…)

From the 9:30 Club:
“Every 9/30 Day, the 9:30 Club takes a moment to celebrate the fans who come through its doors in record numbers, celebrating the communal role music plays in bringing everyone together. This year, the 9:30 Club is partnering with So Others Might Eat (SOME) as they face critical food shortages while residents and businesses band together to “Free DC”, working together to “Protect Home Rule and achieve self-governance for our community.”
To help, the 9:30 Club will be hosting a food drive and raffle this 9/30 Day, September 30, from 10 am to 7 pm, to accept non-perishable donations from SOME’s wishlist (see below), while also celebrating the relaunch of its limited edition “2:02” t-shirts, with all proceeds going to the Free DC project. “Dear PoPville,
Dozens of people came out on barely an hour’s notice and there was music and we were all passing information and encouragement and plans on how to support the community and each other. (While cop cars did slow circles around the plaza and eventually parked right next us.)
Next, we’ll aim for an art session in front of Bancroft and Sacred Heart schools. I can’t imagine how scared and scarred so many kids are right now.”
Chelsea also shares with us: “ICE terrorized my neighborhood of Mt Pleasant today so we reclaimed the plaza — our community living room — with joy and love and messages of resilience. Thank you to everyone who turned out, let’s do it again!! These few photos do not do it justice” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
I’m hoping you can help me track down a guy named Jason. On Saturday, Jason had a pretty impressive wipeout and was knocked unconscious after hitting a parked car on 13th St near the Cardozo Hill. My friend and I saw the whole thing and stayed until he was in good hands with the fire department. I’m just looking to confirm he’s okay and if he has all his teeth.
Let him know if he wants to fill in the blanks, my friend and I happy to share the details from our vantage point, but mostly, I’m just relieved he’s safe.”

“Dear PoPville,
Feeling grateful for my dc neighbors! Today (Wed.) I lost my left airpod after getting whacked by the train door at Pentagon City trying to make it onto the metro 😭 I checked with the station manager at l’enfant when making my transfer and someone had turned it in! Whoever you are, if you’re reading this, you rock and I hope you have an awesome day! I got it back!“
