“Chef Amy Brandwein is expanding her reach. The chef of Centrolina has acquired the RareSweets quarters across from her Italian restaurant in CityCenter, where she plans to open a fast-casual, all-day establishment named Piccolina next summer, possibly July.”

Ed. Note: RareSweets closed back in April. Updates as Piccolina gets closer to opening.

This has been a landmark year for the restaurant, welcoming a new chef who has completely transformed the menu, and there’s no better way to celebrate than over food. Washingtonian reports:

“Luxe downtown development CityCenterDC will lose one of its few local and independent businesses when RareSweets closes its doors this month. Owner and pastry chef Meredith Tomason says the bakeshop’s last day of business will be April 23.”

RareSweets opened up back in December 2014. Updates when we learn what becomes of the space. Any guesses on a replacement?
