From a press release:

“Joy is in the air this holiday season and CityCenterDC is thrilled to once again present a delightful experience for the entire community. After the success of the life-sized igloo in 2017 and the Winter in Washington exhibit in 2018, which featured ice replicas of iconic national monuments up to 12 feet tall, CityCenterDC continues its tradition of immersive large-scale ice installations by creating the largest clear ice maze in the United States. From December 13th-15th guests will have the opportunity to get lost in a frozen labyrinth with towering 7-feet-tall walls, constructed with more than 110,000 pounds of clear ice.

Through its new “Find Your Joy” campaign, CityCenterDC celebrates the unique and special moments of joy visitors experience on site. During the holiday season guests are encouraged to share their joy with the patients at Children’s National Hospital[PK1] , a valued partner that CityCenterDC supports throughout the year.

As guests visit CityCenterDC to shop, dine and enjoy the Ice Maze, donations will be collected to support Children’s National Hospital. Visitors will also have the opportunity donate electronically through the hospital’s Light Up Dr. Bear [PK2] campaign. When a donation is made through one of the bears onsite, the bears will not only light up on the property, but also in the hospital and at outpatient centers throughout the area. It is the perfect way to let the children know the Washington, DC community is thinking about them and help spread a little more joy this holiday season.

“Every year we make it our goal to create holiday programming for the community that will bring unique and one-of-a-kind experiences to CityCenterDC,” says Timothy R. Lowery, General Manager of CityCenterDC. “We are overjoyed that experiencing the holidays at the Center has become a tradition for so many families. Partnering with Children’s National Hospital during the month of December to raise awareness and valuable funds for the inspiring work that they do in our community simply makes the holidays even more joyous.”

“The holidays are a special time of year and our Light Up Dr. Bear campaign is one of the many ways we help bring a bit of holiday magic to our patients and their families who might not be able to experience the spirit of the season outside our walls,” says DeAnn Marshall, MHA, President of Children’s National Hospital Foundation. “Donations we receive through the campaign provide kids the exceptional care they need today regardless of illness, injury or a family’s ability to pay. We are so thankful for our partnership with CityCenterDC that helps make this possible.”

The Ice Maze opens December 13th at 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. and will also be open to the public on December 14th and 15th from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. (closed to public from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. each day for chilling repairs).

All events are free and open to the public and cameras are welcome.”
