“Dear PoPville,
On my walk home yesterday night while on New Hampshire Ave. near the intersection with Georgia Ave., I spotted the monstrosity. My first inclination was that it was some sort of marmot or beaver that wandered far from home, but upon closer inspection I concluded it might, in fact, be a humongous rat, or some sort of blasphemous rat hybrid. Ed. Note: In November 2021 a reader recounted another incident on the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail near the aquatic gardens. More recently in February a reader recounted an unprovoked attack “had to get a tetanus shot and antibiotics”. In response to that post I received multiple messages about similar incidents.
