“I am a local photographer and ran into a Cooper’s Hawk on Sunday while taking out my trash behind my house in Adams Morgan. Ran back to my house and grabbed my camera and was lucky enough to snap the attached shots before it flew away. Interestingly enough, I saw another hawk yesterday over by Manhattan Laundry so it appears that there is an abundance of them in the District right now!”

“Time for a bigger bird house.
Spotted this morning in the alley at 10th and U NW, with a rat in her talons. Glad to see she discovered our abundant food supply and I really hope she sticks around. To quote my neighbor, “finally getting some competent help with rat abatement.”
Got a good view too, as she was down low on the fence about 10 feet away, still thrashing her prey. Great start to the week!”

Hawk or Falcon?
We’ve seen lots of deer but I think this is our first fox sighting in Crestwood. Thanks to a reader for sending:
“Took this photo 10 minutes ago. [8:30am] A red fox jumping our fence in Crestwood.”

“I’ve seen this little guy two mornings in a row now. In the middle of Logan Circle. According to the other neighbors walking their dogs, they’ve been seeing him for the last week or two. Sure is a good lookin’ fella, isn’t he?”
