Thanks to Michele for sending these two: “I can report that as of Jan 3, at least one of the albino squirrels is still living in Franklin Square, and seems well and healthy, if a little (understandably) pissed-off.”

Thanks to Rachel for sending: “A shadow just passed over me while I was out in my back patio on 13th St right off Logan circle, and I looked up to see this hawk carrying its prey! It settled on the roof to look around and eat lunch. I’ve never tried to identify a hawk before, but it looks like either a juvenile Red-Tail hawk or else a juvenile Cooper’s Hawk. Not sure what he has for lunch either…”

Thanks to Stephanie for sending: “this juvenile red-shouldered hawk crashed *through* a window at my neighbor’s house in Hyattsville last week. It got checked out at City Wildlife in DC before being released (back in HVL) the next day. It was somehow unscathed by the incident (probably due to the window being old and single-paned).”
