“Dear PoPville,

So I was just wondering if anyone has an answer for this- for about 2 months now, the Dupont Circle itself (where the fountain is) smells like straight up crap. Like, a STRONG smell of sewage. At first I thought it was from the mulch they laid down at the beginning of warm weather season (maybe the used some sort of manure?), but it hasn’t gone away…am I the only one who notices it? Every day I have to walk through the circle and its just a bombardment attack on my nasal passages!”

“Dear PoPville,

For the past two nights, I’ve seen this light sculpture (?) atop some apartment or condo building on 16th St NW, north of The Chastleton and across the street-ish from the Scottish Rite Temple. The pictures don’t exactly do it justice; it’s a curved green neon rod with a red bit at the bottom. It sure wasn’t there Monday or Tuesday nights, at least that I know of. It seems to go on around 9:30 pm and goes off maybe about 11 pm. Could you help figure out what the deal is with it?”

Thanks to Andrew for sending from NoMa.

Our first sighting of the imaging balloon was back in October 2009. Last year we learned “The balloon was launched by Digital Design and Imaging Inc. to take aerial photos of the District’s skyline as part of the joint Height Master Plan the DC Office of Planning and the National Capital Planning Commission are conducting in response to a Congressional request.”

Though I wonder if the explanation is still accurate. Why is the survey taking so long or maybe this is a new survey?

I can’t believe I got sent two skulls in one day. Well you know what they say?

“Spotted in Malcolm X Park (aka Meridian Hill Park) What in the Helen of Troy is this? We’ve narrowed it down to ‘mammal’.”

And Bry sends the one below from Hill East:

Thanks to Nick for sending this morning’s sighting spotted in Navy Yard. I’ll echo what I said during our last sighting in August:

Be not alarmed and for God’s sake somebody please tell POTUS, this is simply our friends from Air Photos Live balloon who seem to be spotted every year or so. You can see a closeup shot from a previous sighting here.
