We have solar power and produce more than we use. There is some meter glitch with Pepco and they started sending backdated bills for estimated usage (pre-solar!) a couple of weeks ago in excess of $500. Can your readers help advise?”

Has anyone else experienced their Pepco bills increasing drastically, both month-over-month and year-over-year? In my case, I’m not at my house several days out of the week, plus naturally keep the heaters off/low and unplug devices, so expect low bills.

I started the process of getting a heavy-up electrical panel in April 2023. The city came through and it passed inspection in June, and I’ve been waiting for PEPCO to schedule digging and install the the line ever since.

“This is the largest environmental settlement in DC history.”
From the Office of the DC Attorney General:
“Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced that Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco) will pay over $57 million to resolve allegations that it discharged toxic chemicals into the District’s land and waterways for decades, resulting in the persistent toxic pollution of the Anacostia River. Under the terms of the agreement, Pepco must pay $47 million toward cleaning up the Anacostia River and $10 million in penalties. The company also must clean up contamination at its Buzzard Point and Benning Road facilities and investigate the current and historical environmental impacts of the company’s underground, District-wide system of transformer vaults. Additionally, Pepco will pay for the District to oversee this work. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
We’ve had solar panels on our roof for several years. In months when we generated more electricity than we used, our bills always had a negative dollar amount and the credit balance could be used to cover the monthly base charges. This meant we usually only had a bill around Dec/Jan/Feb, and $0 bills the rest of the year.

Harrison writes: “Two people are reportedly trapped inside this small aircraft that has crashed into power lines near Goshen Road and Rothbury Drive in Montgomery Village near Gaithersburg. Rescue is still in progress over two hours after the plane crashed.”
Update from Pepco:
“Pepco is pleased to have successfully assisted Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services and other local emergency personnel with the effort to rescue the individuals who were stranded in the airplane in Montgomery County. As of 11:58 p.m., Pepco also has restored electric service for all customers impacted by incident. (more…)

This morning PEPCO put up many temporary no parking signs on my block…. Only problem is the permit is for 3 spots on a different block, not a full street and not my block.
