“Metro today announced concurrence from the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission (WSMC) that allows Metro to move to the final phase of its 7000-series Return-to-Service Plan. Under the new plan details, the operations team will implement a 15-day manual measurement interval with a path to progress to a longer measurement period in the future.

The new 15-day process comes as a result of data analysis combined with operational considerations that will make more trains available to meet the May 7 service schedule, which coincides with the return of the Yellow Line (more…)


Update from the Department of For-Hire Vehicles:

“The Department of For-Hire Vehicles, which regulates taxicabs, limos, and ride-hailing companies in the District, allows residents of Maryland and Virginia to operate in the District. One requirement is to display a taxi vehicle tag issued by the District. In the past, some taxicabs had tags issued both by the District and their home jurisdiction. That is why you may occasionally see taxicabs with two tags.”

Thanks to G. for sending: “Last night at about 4:15am, 2000 block of 12th St., NW. Apparently no injuries, ambulance and fire trucks left before car was righted.”

Z. writes: “Last night around 9:30 two cars raced down Girard between 14 and 15, one appeared to be chasing the other, and they were shooting at each other out their windows. Police ended up closing off a bunch of streets, but I haven’t seen any details yet. Was right in front of my apartment building”
