That’s to PoPville twitter follower @SonnyBunch for sending the above photo from what looks like 14th St, NW in Columbia Heights. He writes simply:
“So, this is pretty brazen.”
Anyone else every see fliers posted for crap games?

From the side of a row house in Capitol Hill. It is facing train-tracks so perhaps that was the original intended audience?

Gotta give props when restaurants/stores get proper signage. Tegeste opened up back in Nov. ’10 at 3521 14th St, NW.

Kennedy Street, NW (east of Georgia Ave) is like passing through a time warp.

And I just liked this one:

I’ve always loved the Firemens’ Insurance Building on 7th St, NW in Penn Quarter. A friend of mine works nearby and I got to see for the first time the old school sign hidden up top on the side:

“Dear PoP,
Saw this en route to the metro this morning on Sherman and Harvard. I haven’t seen this before and I generally take the same route to work. Wonder if it was put up after this weekends violence.
Do you know if others have seen similar?”
It’s the first I’ve seen. Anyone else see these on Sherman, Georgia Ave or elsewhere?
And even though it’s not grammatically correct I welcome the message. I feel like it’s more than I’ve heard from some of our elected officials about the recent violence…

Hahaha, I would’ve loved to have heard the pitch from the one who came up with this slightly disturbing design:

Thanks to a reader for sending this gem from near the metro in Alexandria.

“Dear PoP,
I’m wondering whether any of your readers have insight into the eccentric storefront pictured in this photo, which is located at 12th and Pennsylvania SE, on the north side of Penn.”
In case folks can’t see from the photo – the window signs say, Yes We Respect ourselves, our mother, our father, our teachers, our friends.
NACOHHSS is:
The National Advisory Congress of Observers for Highway Home and School Safety (NACOHHSS) is founded for several purposes, observation, education, training, advising and action in the areas of highway, home and school safety.
and Safety PIINS is:
NACOHHSS and SAFETY PIINS are national organizations founded in 2001 to assist citizens, organizations and governments in recognizing safety concerns and assisting in the reduction and elimination of such hazards. This organization of advisory members involves themselves in being interested in highway, home and school safety. These two offer advice and training and education in the above areas with programs and seminars facilitated by experts.
Once again proving that DC truly loves acronyms…

Anna Maria’s has been closed since since June 2009 in Dupont Circle at 1737 Connecticut Ave NW. In what I’ll have to file in the good news/bad news category it appears that work has started in earnest (the permit says proposed use is restaurant) but one DC’s greatest city signs is no more. A bitter sweet moment for sure.
