One grand prize winner will receive a free registration to the Focus on the Story International Photo Festival, which is happening June 7 -10 in Washington, D.C. — the same weekend as this year’s Pride festivities. But even if you don’t win the top prize, you’ll still have a chance to attend the festival for free – one entrant selected at random will also receive a complimentary festival registration.

The New York Times reports:
“Early Wednesday morning, if you live in the United States, the moon will bloom red, like a giant rose in the predawn sky.
For people living in New York and other parts of the East Coast of the United States, the moon will begin entering the penumbra at 5:51 a.m. local time, according to Gordon Johnston, a program executive at NASA. Then it will plunge into the umbra at 6:48 a.m. But because this occurs around the time the sun is rising, you might have trouble seeing much of the eclipse before it drowns in the dawn light.”
Accuweather notes:
“Despite only being treated to a partial lunar eclipse around dawn, most of the eastern U.S. will not have to worry about clouds blocking the show.”
If you’re up that early and lucky enough to get a good shot please send your photos of the moon to [email protected] and let me know how you’d like photo credit to appear. You can also send shots to me via Twitter/Facebook/Instagram to @PoPville. Thanks!!

We saw the fantastic photos from the march this morning. Fortunately the reflecting pool is not deep – all kidding aside this could’ve been incredibly dangerous. It got up to like 60 degrees on Saturday…in the future I hope folks will be smarter/signage warning of the danger will posted.

“Thankfully, bystanders were quick to lend a hand and most of the drenched were in good spirits.”

Unfortunately many more after the jump. (more…)
