“Dear PoPville,
I was just wondering if anybody knew whether the dog park next to Dock 79 and across from the Nationals Stadium is closing soon? The parking lot next to it is all closed off, and the entire lot is now fenced in. There is still a small entrance to the dog park, but it looks like it could be gone soon too. I had originally heard rumors that the lot had been sold and the dog park would close, but I thought it wasn’t going to happen until the summer of 2019. Any info on this? This is my dog’s favorite dog park, so I hope it doesn’t close.”

I hope they will include a dog park. There are so many dogs in @TheYardsDC and extremely limited space for them to play. Both a quality of life and public health issue. A small gravel pit isn't cutting it.

“At 15th and R Streets in a tree box, a sign newly nailed to a tree:
My Garden I fret
Is at times beset
With waste foul and wet
Please curb your pet
A rejoinder on cardboard:
This tree box you claim as “your garden”
Is public right of way
So I do beg your pardon
The pups shall poop where they may.”

“Dear PoPville,
Our sweet (and diabetic) yellow lab had a severe and unexpected seizure in Meridian Hill Park. It was so sad and panicky for me and I felt absolutely helpless. A few fellow dog owners stepped in with incredible kindness and generosity. Specifically, a huge thank you to the woman who gave us her dog’s food after we went through the extra treats I had brought and ran across the street to get more treats to help bring her out of her shock, and to the woman who called us an Uber from her account. I don’t know what I would have done without you.
We’re at the vet’s now and she’s stabilizing, largely due to the kindness of others. We’d love to reimburse the Uber cost and to say thanks (extra treats for their dogs that lost some of their playtime)! Can you help us get in touch?”
Please email [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP.

Well this is amazing. From Jenny:
“@PoPville and everyone who RT Alice has been found! Long story…a family picked her up and took her home but was allergic so she flew to Mass. w/ visiting MIL, flying home on April 3. We are thrilled!! Thanks for your support! 🙀😻😺”
Thanks to Evan for first tipping us off:
“Neighborhood listservs are something else. A cat from Petworth went missing — and days later somehow ended up 400+ miles away in Massachusetts. BRB buying the movie rights to the cat’s story.”

“Dear PoPville,
I arrived at the dog run in Bruce Monroe Park today to find a shiny new padlock on the gate. There is no note to explain why the dog run is locked. Does anyone known anything about what is happening here?”
Ed. Note: The dog park faced a similar issue here back in 2015.

“Dear PoPville,
Just a quick head’s up on the off-leash brindle story from last Wednesday.
Sunday night around 7 pm, I saw a verbal altercation between two owners after an off-leash brindle appeared to nip his dog.
I had an inclining this may be the same dog a previously reader wrote in about. What was confusing is the brindle owner HAD a leash in his possession, only putting it on to after the pup almost got into street traffic.
The nipped dog appeared to be okay as they walked away, but I called 311-not only was this off-leash dog at risk and putting cars/pedestrians/others risk, the owner appeared pretty volatile. As with most nights, it was pretty crowded on this corner with dogs, kids, cars, etc. Keep your eyes peeled.”

“Dear PoPville,
One of my dogs was bitten at a dog park last weekend. I didn’t know the dog was injured at the time, and neither did the other owner. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to get information from the other owner regarding vaccination records “just in case.” My dog is now on a 45 day quarantine. I’m looking for any help possible to encourage the other owner to call the Humane Rescue Alliance to provide vaccination information, so my dogs and I can get back to our normal routine of long group walks and doggy daycare.
The incident happened at Bundy Dog Park, between 4th & 5th Street, on P St. NW, on Sunday, February 18, around 1:00pm. The other dog whose records are needed looks like a yellow lab mix, with a shepherd looking face, with dark face markings, named Mambo. The other owner simply needs to call the Humane Rescue Alliance at 202-576-6664, and provide vaccination information. The Human Rescue Alliance said they will not be in trouble for calling in to provide the information. The goal is to prevent rabies in the District.
Additional information. Thanks to a helpful person who was at the dog park last weekend, the dog whose vaccinations records are needed is named Mambo. It is a yellow lab mix, with a shepherd looking face, with some darker markings on the face. If you know anyone with a dog meeting this description and named Mambo, please encourage the owner to call the Humane Rescue Alliance ,so the the little white dog in this picture does not have to be quarantined.”

“Dear PoPville,
Last evening my husband was walking our dog at 5:45pm right past the gas station at 14th & W Streets NW. Two women with short hair were walking a large black dog with some brindle coloring. They let their dog off of its leash and it charged my husband and our dog (a corgi). It immediately went for our dog’s throat and while my husband was able to tackle it off of our dog he broke his finger and sustained a bite. He’s on his way to the ER and the finger injury will obviously impact his work. He was in such a panic over whether or not our dog was hurt (she is relatively okay) and in pain himself that he didn’t get their information before they fled. He says there were lots of witnesses because of the time of day and nice weather. If anyone has a picture or video, we would love to obtain it so this doesn’t happen to others. Thanks.”
Ed. Note: If there are any witnesses please email [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP.

From an email:
“We have a new website. www.11thandBark.org. It is filled with photos of dogs who use the park and has lots of information. Most important, it has a new petition and action items.
Whereas the last petition was focused on convincing the the first petition was designed to tell District officials that we didn’t want WMATA to sell the park. But now we need to tell the Mayor & the DC Council that we want the District to buy the property and designate it an official dog park.
The Mayor is currently crafting her budget and should present it to the Council in March. Ward One Councilmember Brianne Nadeau already requested that Mayor Muriel Bowser include money in her budget to buy the property for the purpose of a dog park. Now, it’s our turn to tell the Mayor to include money in her budget to buy the park and Councilmembers to support it.”
